The Hungry Tiger

Cheese quality 1/2

The cheese sauce tasted great, but was slightly grainy and not particularly inspiring. While not as wet as some other saucier nachos, there was still some chip degradation as a result. We’ll get into that more later!

Consistency 2/2

At first glance, these nachos looked slightly too tall to have perfect dispersal, but looks can be deceiving. These nachos easily entered the clean plate club, and each chip had a good amount of toppings and flavors.

general ingredient quality 1.5/2

There was a wonderful mix of fresh pico and I believe fresh jalapeño with pickled jalapeños. I would say that the ingredients were certainly wonderful, but they lacked that extra oomph to push them over the edge.

Chip integrity 1/2

Not to profile, but these were essentially Juanita’s chips: tasty, but soggy when doused in cheese sauce and crumbly when used for scooping. That said, they held up better than some other feebler nachos in the past, hence the 1/2 rating.

Flavor profIle 2/2

It tasted good. Occasionally it danced on the edge of being too salty but pulled itself back. There was a touch of spice from the jalapeños, but from first glance I didn’t expect spicy from this plate.
