The Pike
Cheese quality 1/2
While not memorable, the cheese had a nice stretch to it. It played well with the other ingredients on the plate, but ultimately took a background role and was a bit too mild.
Consistency 2/2
This is an excellent example of our preferred flat nachos—toppings evenly spread, not too high, meaning that the chips at the bottom aren’t too naked or too soggy.
general ingredient quality 1/2
The blend of tangy barbecue with the sweetness of the corn was a delight to eat. You could tell that much of that was fresh, the jalapeños were pickled which I believe to be a detractor from the overall plate.
Chip integrity 1/2
Although flavorful and not overly greasy, at the end of the day they were a bit too brittle to support the toppings of the dish. If they’d been just a bit more hardy, this would’ve been a home run!
Flavor profIle 2/2
This was a very rich flavored plate of nachos. When you consider the smoky depth of the barbecue veggie patty mingling with the above-mentioned corn and being balanced by the black beans smattered throughout, you wind up with a truly lovely flavor profile. It isn’t a spice forward plate, but I would be remiss if I were to say that spice was absent.
